I bought the Garmin Nuvi 350 after two months of reviewing my choices. This is my first GPS and I am delighted with this amazing device. It has become an essential companion whenever I am more than a few miles from home. Let me summarize my thoughts and observations:

The good:

1. Excellent ability to navigate to a destination with clear narration at each turn (I prefer the Australian dialect).

2. Excellent detection of GPS signal within my car

3. Excellent 3-D display with a flawless touch screen

4. Amazing small size and ease of mounting on windshield

5. Tech support answered my email questions within 3 days.

6. The picture viewer allows my wife to display the current pictures of our granddaughter

The not so good:

1. The downloaded manual is incomplete. It briefly describes how to load pictures or music. It needs to explain how to use and establish waypoints.

2. The navigation is not as good as you can do yourself with knowledge of the roads in your community.

3. The software does not include either a tracking or track back (bread crumb) feature found on hiking models. Since the Nuvi can be carried in your pocket, this feature could guide you back to your parked car. This software would be more useful than the MP3 music player.

4. In order to create and load a map of your own route, you need to buy an optional program for $25.

5. The audio book player is a nice feature, but until the price of audio book downloads decreases, you will probably borrow the audio books from your local public library and play them through your car radio.

6. A low battery voice prompt would be helpful.
