OK, I am the type of person who has analysis paralysis. I reviewed gps systems for about a month anf had it narrowed down to Magellan 360 and Garmin C320. After much research i concluded that the Garmin had better maps preinstalled and was more user friendly. Then i heard about the Garmin c330. Heard mixed reviews about how some did not work. I actually bought 2. Ordered one online, and bought one from Staples. What people fail to tell you is that Garmin has 2 Models of the C330. The newer version has a SD memory slot for future maps and easy update. The older one does not. I actually purchased the older one from Staples but they insisted it was the most current one. I just couldn’t wait for the delivery of the one I ordered from Shipdog.(They are a great company)

Shipdog sent me the newest one with V7 preinstalled and the SD Slot.

This device is unbelievable. I am in realestate and i am constantly out on appointments and i am always printing out directions and even bring my laptop with me in case i get lost and need to search the web and figure out where i am. Needless to say very embarassing when i am with a client. No more. The C330 needs no installation…the screen is bright and clear and very intuitive.

Location updates are also very impressive. They say it updates every second but sometimes it seems even faster. Initial GPS location in a cold start(not used within the last hour) Takes about .5-2 minutes. Very quick. Calculations of directions within state are extremely quick.. less than 45 seconds. Directions to destination out of state could take 1 minute but still not noticeable.

Suction cup mount works great so far. I would recommend windexing the inside of your windshield before mounting to ensure a clean surface and better suction. Have not had a problem with the mount.

Software? Don’t know yet…haven’t had to load anything on my computer yet.

As for the unit software…be sure you get a unit that is newer. The older one i got from Staples had V6 City Select. Garmin offers udates but only for a price. If you get the newer one V7 is preinstalled so you will save yourself some $$$.

As for storing the unit. I wouldn’t go for the garmin bag. I ended up buying a digital camera bag. Better padding and overall better case.

All in all, the Garmin C330 has proved to be well worth the money. It rivals more expensive units and comes in a nice package that is easy to use and out of the box ready to go.
