I cannot speak to the product’s performance as we never got to use it. The 3100 was purchased as a gift; we live in Europe and received the gift during the holidays while in the US. Although the website clearly states that the European maps are available for download, we have a US model which isn’t usable in Europe. The website doesn’t state this - we looked before returning to Europe with the device! Nowhere on the packaging does it state “only for use in the US.” Support from the company was ridiculous; as stated by a previous reviewer, you are toast if you must go through the manufacturer, for they couldn’t care less about whether the product can be used once purchased! As we did not retain the box (didn’t think we’d need it; website seemed clear that we could unlock the maps we needed) we can’t even return the item to the store, even though all other packaging is intact. The company’s only offer of help? They would sell us another one. We were successful in speaking with supervisors, who were even less helpful than the original tech support and salespeople, but only after much persistence and hassle (3+ hrs on the phone, from Europe) on our part - at one point we were actually told to purchase a new one, that we should have looked at the sales pages!! Why would you do that if you already HAD the product?? BEWARE if you need to use this device outside the US!
