I’ve been a registered CoPilot user for 4 years. I have purchased every annual upgrade as they became available. The product performs very well and has features that can’t be found on any other product. However, I believe no amount of good features can outweigh bad support. On every occasion over the last 4 years the CoPilot staff has failed to provide even adequate support. They have shown no interest in correcting a faulty database, they have been unwilling to offer hardware troubleshooting help when the program failed to recognize the GPS receiver, and they have failed to respond to voice mails and e-mails. Most recently, my GPS receiver failed after 5:00 pm EST two days before a critical need for the system . I went to their web site to order a replacement but they were not listed for sale individually. I called the only sales number listed. Two contract individuals (not CoPilot employees) tried to help but neither could find a listing for the receiver. One offered to search the internet and found several sites that sold “generic” receivers. I decided to take a chance due to my desperate circumstances. I received the GPS receiver in time for my trip. I installed the software and it appeared to work correctly.

Once I started the trip I discovered that after about 5 minutes, CoPilot would recognize that the receiver wasn’t their own and would shut off the system with a verbal warning about an incompatibility. This warning despite the fact that up to that time, the tracking was every bit as good as it had been previously with the CoPilot receiver. I contacted CoPilot Support and was told initially that it wouldn’t work. When asked why the program would shut down even though it was working, the story changed to “we won’t help”. I can not find anything good to report about CoPilot support over the last 4 years. I’m sorry it took me so long to give up on them.
