this is my first GPS, purchased at REI based on their recommendation of what I wanted: a good basic GPS that would stand up to motorcycling and not cost much. Bingo. This unit is very easy to operate and delivers all the basic information: location, speed, elevation, trip distance, average speed, sunrise/sunset, etc. It was designed for hikers and canoers, so it gets a bit overwhelmed by multi-hundred mile trips. Eh, so what? It’s a great basic rugged unit. Until I’m willing to pour $500 into a unit with software and cables, this is it. Has been fine on the road, in the woods, and in the rain. I got it seriously confused on a lake once (it read minus 200 feet elevation) but other than that, no problems. Their may be better choices now that Garmin has expanded their product line at the low end.
