I did a great deal of research before making a purchase. I did have some concerns regarding the 2610. My main concern was screen size and the ability to see detail while driving. I am very surprised at just how good the graphics are, no problem at all. The unit seems well built as the weight attests to. As a first time buyer of a GPS unit, it was very easy to learn the controls. I have also been impressed with the sensitivity of the built-in antenna. Sitting in my living room by a picture window, imagine my surprise when the 2610 locked-on to 4 satellites and placed my position accurately. The voice prompts are clear and programmed to give you plenty of time to anticipate turns. I intentionally deviated from the route to see what would happen. I was notified within 5 seconds that I had deviated from the route and it was recalculating the new route - which occurred within 2-3 seconds. I have also played around with the MapSource software provided with the unit and found it to be very good. It did take a little while to understand the logic of it and how to add routes, waypoints etc. The laptop and the software linked up immediately with the 2610 and transfered data with no problems.
