We recently upgraded from this unit to the newer Garmin nuvi 650. But the nuvi 200 is a great basic model that serves one basic purpose: Give directions (with less of the bells and whistles of the fancier ones).

For about $250, this little portable unit gets you where you need to go. It has a pleasant female voice that is clear and easy to understand. Since this is a budget model, this unit does not announce street names. That means you will only hear “Right turn in .4 miles” instead of “Right turn on Elm Street in .4 miles.” This can be difficult in an unfamiliar area, because it forces you to look at the navigation screen to see the next street name. It does have points of interest locations (restaurants, hospitals, etc) which is handy when traveling. The screen is smaller than some others, but bright. No mp3 player or picture viewer, but if you are looking for a simple to use GPS device to get you where you need to go, look no further.

I might recommend upgrading to the nuvi 200W (wide screen version) for a few extra dollars if screen size is important to you.
