I didn’t realize how lazy I was until I strapped this watch on my wrist. We live in an area measured by kilometers. It is very nice to have a tool to measure miles.

I bought the Forerunner 305 in early April and have used it every run since. It is kind of heavy, and the chest strap isn’t as comfortable as my Polar HRM. In fact, after a 13 mile run, I had red marks and chafing like you wouldn’t believe.

The directions say the unit can be used for multiple sports, but not for swimming. I recently tried to use it on the run and bike portions of a reverse sprint triathlon recently. I just threw it off for the swim. I don’t know if I followed the directions correctly, but I was unable to change between sports like the directions said I would. It filed the run and bike under run making it difficult to see my actual times and pace without math. That problem was most likely due to operator error. I’ll give it another try soon.

The Training Center software that comes with the watch is a very nice tool. It looks very similar to Microsoft Explorer, but they don’t interface. If the people at Garmin could make that happen, it would be wonderful. If Training Center would interface with any program, that would be great, but as far as I can tell, it is limited to that program.
