I bought this unit because it was sold in a local store and I wanted to ensure it had effective Canada maps for my area before I committed my $500 Canadian.

I am running it with an iPaq h5550 that has a built-in bluetooth.

Pros:

-Comprehensive maps, was not missing many streets in my remote area, and though those missing may add to your travel time, you will still get to where you are going.

-Directions were well planned** it got me everywhere I wanted to go, and wasn’t rude when I went the wrong way.

-Comes with a car mount for your PDA and a charging system that accomodates your PDA (at least the iPaq h5550) and the GPS unit with one cable.

-As an external self-powered unit, it doesn’t drain the PDA’s battery (except the added bluetooth consumption)

Cons:

-GPS Unit Glows bright blue which can be distracting while driving at night

-**Included voice directions very poor quality but with a little work you can replace the stock directions with your own recordings.

-Installation instructions appeared to be centered around installing CF and other wired (non-bluetooth) Pharos solutions.

-downloading of maps to the pocket pc failed when using built in software. Had to download to my pc and transfer.

-cannot store waypoints (that I found) unless it was a recognized address on the map. (So marking where you buried the hidden treasure isn’t possible.)

-Can’t upload custom maps like other GPS Solutions

-Doesn’t store addresses or waypoints by address, only by blocks of addresses, so your destination will be approximate and you won’t know what side of the street it’s on until you get there.
